A week alone

I am soo very tired, this has been a very logng week for me. I am totally PMSing, I have been working a lot with Terri being in Mexico, and Doug has been working weird hours.

BUT I am happy to report that Terri returned today YEAH!! I am soo happy she is back. She has been gone for over a week relaxing in Mexico (which she totally deserves!!!). This has ment a very long week for me. I have been working later and have been flying solo at the center for the week. Running the center solo is doable but is a much less stressful with both of us there.

I had my apt with Karen yesterday, she did major work on my legs since it seems that my walk on Saturday without a decent support did some pretty good damage to my feet and legs. I now have pain in my right foot and shin splints, so she addressed these and taught me what I could do at home to address the issues.

I received word today that my insoles have been shipped and that they could be here tomorrow if not on thusday. Stephinie will give me a call tomorrow once the deliveries have come in and let me know if they made it in. Karen is very confident that my insoles will alivante most of my issues and head us on the way to a full recover through her program instead of her fixing issues and then having them regress due to pore support for my feet.

Over all

Aftermath, "Working", and my 1st Coach Purse

Well I have one thing to day about today MY FOOT HURTS!!!!! After my 5 miles yesterday and then walking all over Balboa Park trying to get to the Old Globe Theater last night, my foot is really not happy with me today, well more like pissed than unhappy.

Doug and I had a date night last night, where we saw "Working" at the Old Globe in Balboa Park. IT WAS AMAZING!!! We laughed and I cried (I related all too well at a couple of the parts). I highly recommend it to anyone in the San Diego area.

I am also super excited about my most recent ebay purchase. My friend Jenn is a seller on ebay and she announced last week through her blog that she was posting 4 COACH purses from one of her sellers and most were brand new!!!! I checked out her posting and fell in love with
Coach Hamptons Tattersall Large Carryall Purse. I made my offer an offer, then an additional 2 and won the bidding!!! The purse is BRAND NEW with the tags still on it and I paid less than 1/3 of the price for it.

Insoles and 5 miles without them

I am happy to report that I had a wonderful apointment on thursday with Steph. She watched my gait examined my feet and discussed what she was seeing and feeling as she was doing it. It turns out that the sprain I suffered in college did more damage to my right ancle than I was aware. In such a way that my right foot upon impact wobbles to find its center, this would explain why the inside of my righ ancle is always sore. We then discussed what I needed in an insole and she plastered my feet for a cast of them. I put a rush order on them so they should be in on tuesday. YEAH!!!!

Today we walked 5 miles at Miramar Lake, It was a beautiful walk. It was freezing at 6 am this morning and my legs took a while to warm up and work correctly to get my stride correct. Unfortunately without my new insoles my toes gave me issues right away and they continued to for the entire walk. Today's walk was hard for me, I missed my walking partner, I did walk with a fellow walker who was nice but Jenn and I seem to be able to talk about so much that the time passes very very quickly. Today however dragged on forever and it only took 1.5 hours. I also think that my feet bothering me made me just want the walk to be over today.

I am really looking forward to Tuesday and getting my insoles and hopefully being able to complete my walks with less pain and numb toes.

Not in a Blogging Mood lately :(

I haven't been in a blogging mood over the last week. Probably due to me not training again, not a huge deal but I am a little off my game. Karen and I have been discussing my semi custom insoles from my chiro and how they are not really working out for me. So I talked to my chiro and decided to return them and I made an apt with Karen's mentor to have custom insoles done. however that was last weds and my apt is not until this Thursday, so Karen discouraged me from doing my walking until then, she is concerned that with out the support of a good insole that I could destroy all the work we have been doing. So instead of walking she increased and added more stretches to my strengthening regiment she has given me, to correct my foot issue.

However today things to have finally fallen in to place and are starting to look more in the positive direction. Some good news is that Road runner finally recieved the replacement for my brokn hydration pack in, so that has been replaced. They also allowed me to recieve store credit for my socks that I purchased from them that gave me blisters and they recommended some different socks that I did purchase along with a new pair of capris since it is getting hotter now especilly in east county, (they are the same as my running pants that I have completely fallen in love with). I also have taken my shoes back to road runner for a second time (that makes 3 different pairs of shoes) and the guy really really worked with me and we found a pair that I am really happy with, not just happy with lst the last pair that started bothering me after an hour in them. I am happy to report that I worked a 5 hour day in them today and they were grea the entire day. Now I am supper excited to go in on Thursday and start the insoles, she will also be altering my current stock insoles to serve as a temp insole so I can start training again and complete my 5 miles on Sat, I really did miss the walk last Sat.

I wwill try to be better about blogging, I think now that things are getting back on track it will be better.

Sick Kids

Goal: 15 minutes easy 10 minutes goal pace, 1 mile easy
Reality: 30 minutes easy- moderate w/ 2 sick girls in jogging stroller

The girls have been fighting the cold we have all had for the last week. They took it pretty easy this weekend, they skipped dance class on sat and just hung out at the house with daddy, and Sunday we relaxed and watched movies, they were still not up for school today, so I strapped them in the car and off we went to Santee Lakes to get a walk in (I figured I could get in at least 30 minutes in and with pushing 65 lbs around it diffidently makes my walks towards the moderate pace). It was a beautifyl day here and the walk was nice. I got my 30 minutes in and the girls got to feed the ducks while I stretched out after. They played on the playground for a while then we headed home for lunch, which they never got since they both fell asleep in the car on the way home. Here are the girls feeding the ducks:

and them yesterday on our way to cousin Shelby's 18th birthday:

8 MILES BABY!!!

I had an apt with Karen, my muscle therapist on friday. She had done some research into my issue after our last session (she had a good idea after working on me), she established a excersize routine for me that included teaching how to reinline my hips by myself (which seems to be the sourse of my foot issues). She worked on me a little mostly on my right hip, leg and foot. We discussed my walk on Sat and she was in argreement with me in that my walk on Sat at Lake Murry and surounding neighborhoods was going to be hard on me and my feet, the lake is hilly and on a slant which causes your feet to work harder than a flat surface.

Yesterday morning was tough, I was not motivated like I normally am. It was really, really and pretty cold, I really didn;t want to get out of bed. But, I did the drive into Lake Murry was very weird, it was still dark and there are no lights at the lake. We signed in and had our meeting in the dark. The sun finally started to show it self during our streaches. We streached and we were off. The walk went well at first until the prep work I had done to prevent blistering this time, mole skin and taping, started to agrevate my right foot meditatsals and my toes went numb and then started to cause me a little pain. I made it to our aid station and sat down to pull them. Once I did there was instant relief and feeling back to my foot and toes. And I am happy to report that my right foot stayed numb free the remander of the walk. My left foot gave me some issues (that foot was still wrapped due to just loosing the blister off of it and I didn;t want to cause another blister). My back did start bothering me however it was the left side this time, and I am thinking iut was due to my back being in alighment and muscles that ear not used to working haveing to accually woking. The pain subsided once we were doane and I got a chance to streach out.

So I am happy to report even though it was a harder walk I did make it ALL 8 MILES!!!

I am sad however, because my walking buddy will no longer be with me on my saturday walks. Jenn has decided to leave TNT due to fundraising. She has joined a different walking team to train for the marathon, she is just planning on walking the marathon with myself and Gina and just quiting at the half marathon line (TNT partisipants are the only walkers who will have an offical finishline and ceremony). I will miss her on our Sat walks but we are going to try and do a walk together during the week and I am looking forward to marathon day for us to finish those 13.1 miles together.

Some much to report so little energy

So much has happen since we lst our modem and are not back on line and I CAN EVEN PRINT FROM MY LAPTOP!! Thanks to Stew YEAH STEW!!!

Saturday's 7 miles went good for the most part (I even noticed with the flat terrine at the beach by toes took much longer to go numb). The 7 miles went pretty fast with Jenn there for chatting. However I again had a huge blister by the end!! I was able to consult with Coach Susan (she is the blister queen) and she gave me a couple more ideas on dealing with the blisters. Sat night was a different story my lower right back was killing me!! I did the hot cold rotaion to relieve some of the discomfort.

Last I posted I has not to happy, and was getting little accomplished in the toes issues, however today I had a consult with Karen form Interactive Healing http://www.interactivehealing.org/html/therapists.html. She is amazing!!! She looked at my feet (which killed when she put pressure on my metatarsals), my insoles which are not right of course, did measurements and analyzed my posture, did a pressure pont analisis, worked on my entire body, explained why I was having all my issues and taught me 4 excerzises to do at home. When I left my meditarsals were not even tinder to the touch and my back pain (which by the way is due to me over using my left leg and foot during walking) was much better as well. I am sooo pleased with the results and plan on continuing to see her to contimue addressing my foot issues (b/c they can't be fixed in a day of course).

I am now optismitic on my ablity to finish this journey without perminity damaging my feet. Now if I could just get this cold to go away :(

Not So Happy Day

Goal: Rest my blister foot
Reality: Rested my blister foot

I finally got my blister to drain last night and it is feeling better today. However I had high hopes for today, I had a chiro. apt where I was planning on readdressing my foot issues with Dr. Miles and a plan to stop my movin shoes to address my blister issues.

My apt. with Dr. Miles was less than thrilling, he asked about my feet, he looked at them and adjusted them. I told him about our clinic on Sat and what Dr. Rob had mentioned about pressure point therapy and stripping the tissue of scare tissue to get the blood flowing again and he just brushed it off and mentioned that maybe the 2 weeks were not enough and that I might need 6 weeks off. I explained to him that I don't think it is a muscle issue and I think that I damanaged the nerves during my wedding and that I this has been happening off and on since then and only whn I push my feet (in which I irrate that nerve). He pretty much just listened and than talked about this lazer he is getting in that might help but he was not relly sure when it would be in.

My dissapointing day continued when I reached movin shoes, I really enjoyed my visti to pick out my shoes and the conversation with the staff yesterday about my blister issue and was really looking forward to getting some assistance in addressing the blister issue. However when I arrived the guy working there didn't turn out to be very much help, between the what do you need additude to the there over there point in a general direction was not really what I was looking for. I did leave with a new pair of socks that are two layered, we will see what they do on friday.

Basically I am just so done being so excited to try a new tech. and being dissapointed every day when nothing I am trying is working, my toes are still numb and getting worse not better and now I have major blister issues :(

On the up side I did contact Karen Baskin, a woman who is part of a Neuromuscular Therapy Group who was reccomended to me by my mom's friend and she is going to be contacting me tonight to discuss my situation. I am hoping she has some answers for me.

I am looking forward to getting my mom out of the house for her haircut apt tomorrow, we have back to back apts. but our stylist is going to switch us back and forth to save time.

Stupid Blister!!!!

Goal: Rest
Reality: 15 minutes easy, 45 moderate walk

I was planning on resting today until I remembered that I have a hair apointment on Thus and won't have the time to get a walk in.

I was looking forward to testing the liners with my favorite socks. While the concept seems like a good idea the liners I got are not comfy and made my blister much worse. I am headed to movin shoes tomorrow with my shoes, socks and liners in hand and see what they have to recommend.

Here is my blister as of tonight:

Lessons Learned

I am going to steal my friend Apryl's goal writing:

Goal: 15 minute warm up, 10 minutes goal pace, 15 minute cool down.
Reality: 15 minute warm up and 15 minute easy walk (very easy).

After Saturday's walk with my really really hot feet, I purchased what I thought were really thin socks to test out. Well today started out busy but I was excited to test out my new socks and some padding for my toes. I first noticed that my feet started to become hot from friction right away and then my feet started to really hurt, both of them really really hurt, I mean the whole thing. I stopped and stretched retied my shoes and pressed on. However, every step was horrible, I ended up taking small steps walking as lightly as possible. I was very disappointed and in extreme pain once I hit my car. I sat down and pulled off my shoes and socks and drove home. At this point I have decided to take Patrick's (Doug's friend) advice and try sock liners. I made a mental note that I needed to pick those up tomorrow on my rest day, and I would yet again have 4 more pairs that didn't work.

When I got home I picked up the remaining socks still in their packaging and I am glancing at the words on the packaging and the word "liner" caught my eye. So it winds up that I did my walk in liners today not socks!!! So explains everything that happened today. So I am innoyed that I wasted a day's walk however I am excited that I have liners to try and not another 4 pairs of socks that I waisted money on.

Tomorrow is a rest day and after today my feet need it, So I will test out the liners with my favorite socks so far on Wednesday.
