COUNTDOWN- 6 DAYS

Well it is offically less than a week till the big day and I am getting nervous and excited all at the same time. I am a little nervous about the 13.1 miles with my knee acting up and my left foot forming a little blister that peeled away leaving nice fresh skin (exactly what you don't want for a long walk), I am accaully more nervous about the ligistics of the day itself, getting to the start line which includes, driving to the participants lot down by the airport, taking the shuttle to the startline finding my TNT Team. As well as making sure I have all my supples I need for the walk, figuring out if I carry it all or if I need a "pit crue" half way and who can do it. How Doug and the rest of my family will get to the race, how I will get back to my car (they don't have a shuttle at the 1/2 marathon finish only from the full) ect...

And of course as my luck would have it Doug will be heading out to Cochella for T-F this week, and I any have 1 grandparent in town to help (Mom nad Lance are in Alaska on a Cruise) which means I have to have my partner Terri at work cover my W evening shift so I can get the girls from school by 6. I also have to pick up Mom and Lance Thusday evening after work, which means running to ge the girls from school after work, getting home to meet cousin shelby (hopefully she is trying to switch shifts at work) getting them dinner sterted and then driving to the Airport, then Alpine then back home. Then Friday my dad is watching the girls for a couple hours during Audrey's nap time so I can get down to the EXPO to get my race packet (I don't have time on Sat). Fun Fun times!!!!

I alos have to make sure I get out and do major streatching and some easy walking this week so I can make sure my body is ready for Sat (since Ihave been resting my knee I can tell my body is starting to stiffen up)

This week will be busy but I am hoping it will help it pass quickly!!

The Climb

I walked today for the first time in almost 2 weeks, my knee did well for the walk and is just a touch swollen this evening. Yeah!!!

I have never really had a song that I considered my theme song or anything like that in my past however I recently heard The Climb by Miley Cirus (I am not really a huge fan of hers I accually haven't liked any of her past musics, however this song really moved me so I am offically calling it my theme song. So here is to living in the moment and enjoying The Climb

Dress Rehersal, Mother's Day and the Aftermath

So yes I know it has been 2 weeks since I posted.

I had an Amazing Mother's Day weekend. I spent Friday at with my mom and sister (who flew down for the weekend). We had lunch at the girls school, they put on a mother's day lunch for all women in the kid's lives. We dropped them off at home with daddy and we had mani and pedi's done, went shopping and had dinner.

Sat I had my dress rehersal for my walk and I am happy to report I made the entire walk!!! The walk went pretty well better than any past walks. Just had a few issues that I fixed with some stretches. Overall a good walk, hard but I did it!!!! After my walk I felt pretty good, Doug treated me to a massage Sat night for mommy's day (he got one too).

However upon waking Sunday my right knee (the bad one) was about 3x the size it should be so I iced and advil and called Karen and she fit me in and drained what she could through pressure point therapy. With her working on it, ice, advil, knew knee brace and with major rest including skipping my 8 miles on Sat has resulted in a much happier knee.

I am planning on walking Sat and I am looking forward to my prep meeting for the Marathon :)

Weekend and shoes/insoles

So I am happy to report that I have broken in my newest insoles, YEAH!! I wore them all day today and they felt great :)

My mood is also improving and I am really looking forward to this weekend. My sister is flying in tomorrow and staying till Tuesday. We have many plans this weekend it will be busy but I am really looking forward to it. Friday we are attending the Mother's Day Lunch at the girls school, them the girls are hanging with daddy in the afternoon while the girls go out on a mom's day afternoon (mani's and Pedi's along with shopping or a movie). Sat I am walking while Daddy and Aunt Lauren take the girls to Dance class. In the evening we are either doing a family dinner or a date depending on what I am up for. Sunday afternoon we are heading to Grandma Hiedi's for her annual Mother's day party (this I am not to excited about, it is a bunch of her friends along with family drinking to much, Doug having to help BBQ so then this mommy gets to watch her girls around a pool while trying to wait on her mom as well b/c my wonderful step dad doesn't think it is his responcibiblty to help my mom have a good mother's day. But my sis will be there this year to help so it should be more enjoyable)

So I know I have been writing a little here and there about my insloes and shoes over the last couple of weeks. Today when I was picking the girls up from Grandma and Grandpa's I showed my mom my new insoles and releised that I can't really explain in deatils about my shoe/ insole experence without some visual aids so here it goes:

I have gone through 4 pair of shoes, 3 Through Movin shoes that I was never really ahppy with, I found that then times I went back to exchange my shoes I really only tried a couple pairs on and then was never really happy with them once put to the long walk test. I am very happy with the decission to try RR I did their testing and was helped to find the perfect shoes, well accually 2 perfect pairs a pair of Nike and a pair of New Balance, the decission was hard to make I have always had good luck with NB and was shocked that I accually liked a pair of Nikes (I have never found a pair that I liked in the past). I deccided on the Nikes, with the knowledge that if my resoled insoles didn't feel right once they came in I could exchange them for the NB. I am happy with the Nike's so far.

Here they are:

As far as the insoles go I have been in semi custom insoles, custom insoles and now custom insoles that have been resoled. The new ones seem to be breaking in nicely. Here is a picture, yes those are 2 coasters stacked next to them to get an idea of how high my insoles are.

Pictures

So I guess it has been a while since I posted pictures, so I go to upload some from the camera and it is dead. Then I remember that it has been that way since Easter when I discovered it that way when I retrieved it from my pirse to take Easter pictures. So I have plugged it in, but here are a few I have taken on my phone recently. I will have to retrieve the easter ones from my mom and post them soon.

6 miles Back down day

We had a back down day yesterday and completed 6 miles in preperation for our dress rehersal next Sat. where we will be walking 12 miles yep that is right 12 miles.

I have just finished reading my friend Apryl's blog and I have to say it is like she is reading my mind. I too have had a hard time these past few weeks with getting motivated to walk (run in her case). I have great intentions and motivation the day before and the next day I have none. My 6 miles on Sat were tourture for me my new insoles instanty activated my medatarsals and my feet hurt and were numb all at the same time. :(

They bothered and innoyed me the entire time, unlike before when they would go numb but never bother me and I continued on with enthusm.

I need to find that enthusm again or I am affraid I will loose site of my goal :( I am just not sure where to find it right now :(

Off to enjoy the remainder of the sunny sunday with my family! Doug will be off to Cochilla again tomorrow for the week.
